Violence and aggression at work is a problem for many workers and employers have a duty to protect their workers from it and prevent violence at work. To help them meet this duty the HSE has refreshed its guidance for employers and also issued guidance to workers.

The new guidance advises employers on the control measures they can put in place to protect their workers from violence, provides the legal framework to make clear  which health and safety laws are relevant to violence at work, advises on how to report work-related violence and learn from incidents, how to assess the risks and practical examples of ways to prevent violence.

There is also advice for workers to explain how they and their employers can prevent work-related violence.
